- While the hardware is compatible with commercial Blu-Ray disks, the current version of Mac OS X’s DVD Player does not support Blu-Ray at this time, nor is there any 3rd party software that can decode a disk’s content. However, we expect this feature to be included with or available shortly after the release of Apple’s next generation operating system, 10.5 Leopard.
- Is Finder burning supported with Blu-Ray media for burning data?
- No. Currently, the only solution for burning to Blu-Ray media is by using Roxio’s authoring software, Toast 8. Earlier versions of Toast will not work.
- Can I burn my High-Definition video content to Blu-Ray media using Final Cut Pro or DVD Studio Pro?
- No. Currently, data is the only type of content you can burn to Blu-Ray media.
- Which of your Blu-Ray drives can use the 50GB Dual-Layer Blu-Ray media?
- Both the laptop and desktop models can use 50GB Dual-Layer Blu-Ray media.
- Is the Blu-Ray drive compatible with iLife?
- While the standard DVD-R (single and dual layer) and DVD+R (single and dual layer) media is compatible with iLife, currently Blu-Ray media is not.
- Are there any 3rd Party programs that can burn Hi-Definition video to a Blu-Ray disk using your optical drive?
- Our new Blu-Ray drive has been tested and certified compatible with Adobe's forthcoming Premiere Pro CS3 video production software that includes Adobe Encore CS3 and is part of the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium Collection. Adobe Encore CS3 integrates with Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Premiere to provide a rich set of creative tools for the production and output of full-featured, menu-driven DVD and Blu-Ray Discs. It is the only video production and editing software available for the Mac OS that supports built-in Blu-Ray Disc authoring for playback on stand-alone Blu-Ray DVD players & the Sony PlayStation 3.
