- The Mac mini is the first Apple computer to compete in the low-end consumer market. Its compact and elegant design allows it to be the perfect fit into any small office workspace. Based around the basic motherboard design of the eMac(USB 2.0), the Mac mini packed an impressive feature set into a very small package, just two inches tall and 6.5 inches wide and deep. The Intel-based Mac was announced in February of 2006.
